Manual Osteopathic Therapy

At The G.O.A.T. Sport Medicine Clinic in Sherwood Park, our manual osteopathic therapy focuses on restoring alignment, improving movement, and supporting your body’s natural capacity to heal — whether you’re recovering from injury, managing chronic pain, or seeking to optimize performance.

Our practitioners use hands-on, manual techniques including joint mobilizations, soft tissue and fascial release, visceral manipulation (gentle techniques to support organ mobility and function), craniosacral work, and corrective movement strategies to address a wide range of conditions, such as:

  • Lower back pain, hip and pelvis misalignment

  • Neck pain, shoulder dysfunction and upper-body stiffness

  • Joint stiffness, mobility limitations and restricted movement patterns

  • Sports injuries, overuse syndromes and training-related loads

  • Postural strain from desk work, trade/physical jobs or repetitive motion

  • Nervous system imbalances, chronic tension and fluid/lymphatic restrictions

  • Digestive discomfort, bloating and abdominal tension

  • Organ mobility restrictions impacting posture, circulation or core stability

  • Stress-related symptoms linked to gut-brain connection and autonomic imbalance

Manual osteopathic therapy is about more than simply relieving symptoms — it’s about restoring functional movement, aiding circulation and fluid flow, and promoting long‑term structural health. Each treatment is personalized to your goals and integrated with the clinic’s multidisciplinary approach (including physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage) for better, lasting results.

If you’re in Sherwood Park and ready to take the next step toward movement freedom, improved performance or chronic pain resolution — book your manual osteopathic therapy appointment today at The G.O.A.T. Sport Medicine Clinic.

What to Expect During Your Session:

Your first visit will begin with a detailed intake of your health history, movement patterns, and postural alignment. We’ll assess where your body is compensating, which systems may be under stress, and what your treatment goals are.

Depending on your needs, your 60–75 minute session may include:

  • Joint mobilizations to restore movement in stiff or restricted areas

  • Fascial and soft tissue release to reduce tension and improve muscle balance

  • Visceral manipulation — gentle, hands-on techniques that support the mobility and alignment of internal organs, helping improve digestion, circulation, and overall function

  • Craniosacral therapy — subtle, light-touch work focused on the rhythm and movement of the craniosacral system (skull, spine, and sacrum), often used to calm the nervous system and reduce stress-related tension

  • Corrective movement strategies to reinforce new patterns and prevent recurrence

Your practitioner will also provide personalized home-care advice to support your recovery — including movement, mobility, and postural strategies that fit your lifestyle.

Please wear comfortable, easy-to-move-in clothing (e.g., leggings or shorts and a t-shirt).

Is it covered by insurance?

Currently, Manual Osteopathic Therapy offers direct billing through Telus eClaims, except for Canada Life. Many other extended health insurance plans provide coverage for manual osteopathic therapy, but these claims usually need to be submitted manually by the client.

If your insurance provider is Sun Life, we recommend calling them to request approval for the practitioner. Once approved, submitting your claims should be straightforward.

Please note that at this time, Canada Life does not cover manual osteopathic therapy treatments. We advise all clients to verify their individual insurance plans directly with their provider to confirm coverage and billing procedures.
